THE LEONIDAS ROSE     perfection in terra cotta roses !

Conditioning Leonidas Roses

The Leonidas Roses is a beautiful, unique terra cotta & cream rose. Once you have received your leonidas roses, the first job will be to condition them correctly. For best results with leonidas roses please follow the step by step guide below:

  • First, cut the Leonidas Rose stems at a 45 degree angle with a very sharp knife. (Don't use scissors, as this will crush the stems & prevent water reaching the flower heads).
  • Remove the lower foliage.
  • Carefully remove the thorns, trying not to scrape or cut through the stems.
  • Fill clean buckets with boiling water & sterilising solution. (house hold bleach will do the job).
  • When sterilised, tip out the water & replace with warm water & cut flower food.
  • Place the Leonidas Roses in the bucket - submerged in deep water to just below the flower heads.
  • Leave to hydrate over night - they will be ready to work with in the morning.
  • Do not leave the leonidas roses near a heater, close to fruit, in direct sunlight or in a draughty place.

Top Tip!

The outer petals of Leonidas Roses are called 'guard petals'. These petals are often darker in colour and thicker than the other petals. For a lovely clean look, carefully remove them with your fingers.
